Installing an SSL Certificate: FileZilla Server

1. Generate your private key and CSR with OpenSSL.

2. Make sure yourDomain.crt, yourDomain.ca-bundle and yourDomain.key are in the same directory.

3. Open a command prompt and run the following command in the location above.

  • Windows: copy yourDomain.key + yourDomain.crt + yourDomain.ca-bundle yourDomain_FZ.crt
  • Linux: cat yourDomain.key + yourDomain.crt + yourDomain.ca-bundle > yourDomain_FZ.crt

You should now have a file that looks like this if it was opened in a text editor:

-----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
$SOME TEXT
-----END RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
$SOME TEXT
-----END CERTIFICATE-----
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
$SOME TEXT
-----END CERTIFICATE-----
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
$SOME TEXT
-----END CERTIFICATE-----

4. Open the FileZilla Server Options windows to the SSL/TLS settings area and reference the newly created file in both the Private Key and Certificate area.

Edit -> Settings

5. Click OK to save and continue.

6. Stop and Start the FileZilla Server.

SSL should now be enabled for your server.
