Why do emails I send get marked as spam?

Every web hosting provider can employ their own specialist methods for detecting email patterns or IP addresses. The most common methods for detecting spam are as follows:

  • IP Address Blacklisting - Check to see if your IP has been blacklisted by an anti spam organisation.
  • Originating Domain Name - If your domain name has been previously associated with spam complaints your emails are likely to be received as spam.
  • IP Reverse DNS - Ensuring that your IP address has a valid Reverse DNS record is important as this can affect email delivery.
  • Keyword Filtering - If you email contains words that are commonly associated with spam the email will either be not delivered or marked as spam.
