New Community Area!

We've been working on a new community area that ties in to our customer portal, My XILO.

The new discuss site will allow discussion just like our community forum but also serve as an idea pool and an area to give feedback.

Over time, we're sure this will serve as better resource than the previously under-used forums. Registrations can't be moved over, which also includes posted data, some of which was vastly out of date.

A nice idea - good work Matt! Checked in the MyXilo area and couldn't see any visible integration - is this an "in progress" feature?

It is.

We are working on SSO, so once logged in to the portal, you'll be logged in here too. At this time, we're to decide if to allow non-account holders to register much like the forum, or just have customers only..

The latter may limit discussion though.

Hi Matt

I think it would be better to leave it open so that potential customers could register and ask questions which either yourself, other members of staff or customers could answer, this is what I did before I joined and both you and others were kind enough to answer them, this would I think in a number of cases swing things in your favour, it did in my case.

I presume that if you limited it to access via the portal it wouldn't get indexed by the search engines as if it was read only to all but customers others may get the impression this is being done to limit or suppress any potentially negative comments (whether these exist in reality or not)

Even if you had to be a customer to post, you'd still be able to view the posts.

We'll need to give more thought in to it either being a open community or, a customer one.

Great idea, really swish format - forum functionality but in a nice wrapper. I think making it as easy as possible for people to participate is key, as long as you have good moderation in place.
